US-born attacker of Ghanaian descent, Micheal Koffie Essien has helped Phoenix Rising Youth Team (U-16) to win the 2023 Max Shacknai Invitational tournament.
The Max Shacknai Invitational tournament is Phoenix Rising's biggest tournament in memory of a young player who died years ago in Arizona.
For this year’s edition of the tournament, some 450 teams from five states competed for honours from the (U7-U19) level had the chance to compete.
In the final of this year’s tournament last weekend, Phoenix Rising Youth Team (U-16) locked horns with Phoenix Premier FC.
At the end of a good contest, Micheal Koffie Essien and his teammates recorded a 2-0 win to be crowned champions of the 2023 Max Shacknai Invitational Tournament.
Born to Ghanaian parents in the United States of America, Micheal Koffie Essien has shown a lot of promise already.
Now just 16 years of age, he has been tipped for greatness in the near future.
In the just-added tournament, he scored one goal and provided two assists after featuring in all three matches for the Phoenix Rising Youth team.
