Ghanaian winger Edward Opoku has joined United Soccer League Championship side Birmingham Legion FC on loan from Columbus Crew.
Opoku was selected by Crew SC with the 9th pick of the second round in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. To date, the 22-year-old has made five regular-season appearances for the Crew.
Before joining Columbus, he attended the University of Virginia from 2015-2017, featuring in 53 matches (all starts) while bagging 16 goals and nine assists.
In three years in Charlottesville, the highly-rated youngster earned three all-conference honors, making two All-ACC Second Teams and one All-ACC Third Team.
Opoku joins the team this week and will make the trip to Louisville next weekend to face Lou City FC on March 30.
He becomes the fourth Ghanaian player in Legion as they have already signed Marcel Appiah, Prosper Kasim and Dreams FC left-back Razak Cromwell
