Ghana international Alfred Duncan played a vital role in his Italian side Sassuolo’s 1-1 draw against Switzerland side FC Luzern in their UEFA Europa League play-off first leg tie.

The 23-year-old was handed a start in the team and was instrumental throughout in midfield after hitting the woodwork in the 79th minute of the game played at the Swissporarena.

The home team opened the scoring in the 8th minute of the game through Marco Schneuwly only for Domenico Berardi to put Sassuolo level after scoring from the penalty spot three minutes before halftime.

Alfred Duncan and his Sassuolo teammates will be hoping to go past FC Luzern to the group stages of the Europa League when they host the Swiss in the return leg next week at the Mapei Stadium in Italy.
