Ghana’s Black Satellites crowned Champions of U-20 AFCON for the fourth time

The Black Satellites of Ghana have been crowned Champions of the Total CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament for the fourth time after defeating the Hippos of Uganda on Saturday night.

The Ghana U-20 team today locked horns with their counterpart from Uganda at the Stade Olympique Nouakchott to battle for the ultimate prize of the 2021 edition of the Africa Youth championship staged in Mauritania.

Before the encounter, Satellites head coach Karim Zito in a pre-match interview promised that his team is geared up to gift the trophy to Ghanaians as an Independence Day present.

Staying true to their words, the Black Stars have dispatched the Hippos in the final at the end of an exciting contest.

On the night, captain for the side Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored in each half to propel Ghana to a deserved 2-0 win.

Courtesy of the victory, the West African giants have been crowned Champions of the 2021 Total CAF U-20 AFCON tournament.

Ghana with the latest triumph has increased its tally of trophies at the U-20 level of the CAF AFCON to four.
