Both teams advance rapidly towards the opposing goal in an exciting start. In the eighth minute, Havard Nielsen took the game's first serious shot, which Wehen goalie Florian Stritzel parried.

Three minutes later, the visiting goalkeeper is helpless: in the 11th minute, Nielsen skilfully heads in Phil Neumann's hard cross from the right to make it 1-0 for Hannover 96.

In the 10th and 12th minutes, though, Ron-Robert Zieler held on exceptionally well against Ivan Prtajin, who had to leave the play shortly after with a muscular injury.

Derrick Köhn settled things down for Hannover, making it 2-0 in the 74th minute with a low strike between Stritzel's knees following nice work from Schaub.

Hannover 96 is currently second on the league table with 15 points after eight games while Wehen Wiesbaden is 15th with 8 points.
