Ghana’s group opponent Egypt, calls up foreign-based big guns for Afcon 2017 camp

Head coach of the Egyptian national team Hector Cuper has called up 11 foreign based-players, including Roma winger Mohamed Salah and Stoke City forward Ramadan Sobhi, to join the preparatory camp for the 2017 African Cup of Nations slated for Gabon.

Under the tutelage of the Argentinean coach Cuper, the Pharaohs will begin their training camp for the 2017 Nations Cup on 1 January and face Tunisia in their only friendly game before the tournament seven days later.

The record seven-time African champions will take on the Black Stars of Ghana, Mali and Uganda in Group D of the Nations Cup, which will be played in Gabon from 14 January to 5 February.

Coach Cupertino led the Pharaohs to a successful 2-0 win over Ghana in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier and will be hoping to do a double come January.

The 11 foreign-based players are as follows:

Ahmed Elmohamady (Hull City - England), Mohamed Salah (Roma - Italy), Mohamed Elneny (Arsenal - England), Mohamed Abdel-Shafi (Ahly Jeddah - KSA), Mahmoud “Trezeguet” Hassan (Royal Excel Mouscron - Belgium), Mahmoud "Kahraba" Abdel-Moneim (Ittihad Jeddah - KSA), Omar Gaber (Basel - Swiss), Ahmed "Kouka" Hassan (Braga - Portugal), Ramadan Sobhi (Stoke City - England), Karim Hafez (Racing Club de Lens - France), Amr Warda (Panetolikos - Greece).
