Ghana’s High Commissioner to India, His Excellency Mike Ocquaye has asked players of the national under-17 team the Black Starlets to eschew complacency ahead of the final group game against the host.

The Black Starlets will play India on Thursday and will need a win to progress from the group.

Following their 1-0 defeat to the young Yankees of the United States of America on Monday, the football loving ambassador visited the players where he shared some goods words of encouragement with them.

"I just want us to learn from any defeat or anything that goes against us that is why you are all U-17, before you started the match I was more confident you were going to beat Columbia than USA."

"The reason is this, when Ghana is facing tough opponents, we play well, Columbia is tough opposition and we beat them, but somehow there is this thing that as for USA don't worry we are going to beat them."

"The word here is complacency, it showed even in the first half, well done but this is a big lesson we must all learn."

The two times World Champions have looked far from convincing despite winning their opening game against Colombia.

Ghana are one of the favourites of the tournament but will have to improve if they are to go far in the competition.

The West African nation returned to the World Stage after a ten year absence.
