Ghana’s Thomas Partey expected to return from injury next month

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey is expected to return to action before the end of the season, according to medical expert, Ben Dinnery.

The Ghanaian international could return in time for the North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur slated for May 12.

Partey suffered a thigh injury during Arsenal clash with Crystal Palace where the Gunners lost 3-0 at away.

He has missed the match against Brighton and Hove Albion.

But according to Premier League injury expert the enterprising midfielder could return before the season ends.

“I understand that it’s around the same area as a previous thigh injury from 2020,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“He picked that one up in the North London derby and it lasted around that five-week period.

“If we’re looking to base it on that in terms of severity, he could return in a similar timeframe.

“Funnily enough, that would coincide with the North London derby again.

“He is meeting with a specialist to help identify whether there is an underlying issue that would explain why this has come up again.

“He is so important to that Arsenal team. It’s night and day in terms of points per game when he is and isn’t in the team.”

Partey has registered two goals and one assist in 26 appearances for the Gunners this term.

Arteta’s side have lost their last two matches and are now three points outside the top four with eight games remaining.
