Hearts of Oak new signing Gladson Awako has started training with the club ahead of the 2021/22 season.

The 30-year-old was put through his paces by coach Samuel Boadu as the Phobians intensify preparation for next month's CAF Champions League preliminary round game against CI Kamsar.

Awako joined the club from Great Olympics on a two-year deal with an option for a 3rd year.

He was involved in 13 goals; scoring six and providing seven assists as well as winning four Man of the Match awards last season.

Following his exploits in the domestic league, he was handed a call-up to the Black Stars by coach CK Akonnor for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations double-header qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome.

Hearts will travel to Conakry Guinea for the first leg of the encounter on the weekend of September 10-12 before returning to Accra for the second leg between September 17-19.

The winner of the encounter will play Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club in the first round in October.
