GOIL sponsorship with Hearts and Kotoko terminated

Ghana Oil Company (GOIL) has opted to terminate their sponsorship agreements with Ghana Premier League giants Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak, reports have revealed.

The company which belongs to the state announced a sponsorship deal with the two most successful clubs in the country which made them entitled to GH¢480,000 for a period of 12 months.

Both Kotoko and Hearts received GH¢40,000 each month as benefits of the lucrative deal.

With the 12 months elapsing recently, GOIL has decided not to continue the marriage with the two clubs though it had earlier expressed willingness to renew the agreement when it ends.

Checks have revealed that the company decided to end the sponsorship agreement with the clubs due to the fact that there has not been a competitive league in the country in the past year with the return of the Ghana Premier League this year looking uncertain.
