Going Nowhere! Antonio Conte Insists Oscar and Fabregas Won't Be Sold in January

Published on: 21 November 2016

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has refuted rumours of midfielders Cesc Fabregas and Oscar leaving Stamford Bridge in the next transfer window.

The pair don't look to have a place in the Italian's new system, and many suggest that they could be sold in January.

Fabregas has struggled with injury, and even when fit, hasn't found any real favour with the manager, while Oscar hasn't made a single start since the change to 3-4-3.

Juventus have long been interested in signing the Brazilian, while Milan are rumoured to be keen on taking Fabregas to the San Siro. However, Conte has brushed it off as just gossip, insisting that the players are still very important to the club.

"It's gossip, I'm not going to send them away," he told Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited bySky Sports."They're important players for Chelsea."

Conte also added that his squad is complete, and refused to be drawn in on the possibility of making January signings.

"A defender in January? It's premature to talk about it, the squad is complete.''

He went on to praise Victor Moses, who has finally become a Chelsea regular after three seasons out on loan, and claimed to be amazed that the Nigerian was overlooked in the past.

"I could see his potential from the first days of the summer training camp," he remarked."Moses has important qualities: technique, physical strength, the ability to cover 70 metres of the pitch. I find it incredible that someone like him has been underestimated."

Chelsea have put together an impressive string of victories, claiming six consecutive wins without conceding a single goal. Their 1-0 win against Middlesbrough ensured that they went top of the standings in the Premier League.

But the new system will be further tested in their next two games, with Spurs and Manchester City up next.
