Ghana coach C.K Akonnor has named his squad for the upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier double-header against Sudan and it does not include some notable names.

The new Black Stars coach has left out some big names including Ghana’s all-time scorer Asamoah Gyan and Inter Milan ace Kwadwo Asamoah, who is yet to return from a knee injury.

The most surprising snub is Real Valladolid center back Mohammed Salisu who has been excellent this season for his club. He leads in clearances for his side with 5.2 in all competitions and also has the second highest rating in Valladolid (6.92).

Majeed Waris, who has discovered his old form at Strasbourg was also omitted.

Pyramids FC striker John Antwi has also been overlooked despite his stunning performances in Egypt this season.

Other notable absentees also include John Boye, Majeed Ashmeru, Patrick Twumasi, Kevin Prince Boateng, Samuel Tetteh, and Afriyie Acquah.

Below is Ghana’s 23-man squad for the AFCON Qualifier doubleheader;
