Harold Essien and Middlesbrough part ways

English-born defender of Ghanaian descent, Harold Essien and Middlesbrough have mutually parted ways.

Essien, who joined the Championship side from Manchester City in the summer of 2018 has brought an end to his two-year stay at the club.

He featured for the U-16 team before progressing to the under-18 side where he made 18 appearances during the 2019/20 season.

Despite his impressive performances last season for the Riverside Stadium outfit, he's being released following the expiration of his contract.

Essien is one of the highly-rated youngsters in the English U-18 Premier League and he has been tipped for greatness in the coming years.

Born to Ghanaian parents in Manchester, he went through the City Academy before moving to Middlesbrough in June 2018 for an undisclosed fee.

The right-back is yet to be capped by either Ghana or England at any level.
