Former Hearts of Oak and Kotoko goalkeeper, Mutawakilu Seidu has hailed the current form of his former sides in this season’s league.
The two rivals have been on a good form in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
Hearts of Oak currently sit top of the table following their win against Techiman Eleven Wonders at Ohene Ameyaw Park.
Kotoko were looking to reclaim the summit of the table but that hope was dashed by stubborn WAFA after a 1-1 draw at the Len Clay Stadium on Saturday.
Both clubs are tied on 46 points but the Phobians are top due to superior goal difference.
Mutawakilu Seidu, whose career has taken him through both clubs, believes the rise of the two teams is a good omen for the Ghana premier league.
“I follow the Ghana league each and every week," he told Africa-Foot.com.
“And we thank God that two biggest clubs in Ghana [Hearts and Kotoko] have regained their lost glory and battling for the league title.
“Medeama were equally doing well but the league is such that, just one loss makes you drop on the log.
“I’m happy Hearts and Kotoko have raised their game because if any of them win the league, they can represent Ghana well in Africa.
“It’s been long since a Ghanaian club performed well in Africa," he added.
Seidu, who currently plies his trade in Nigeria for Ranger International, spent part of his formative years at Asante Kotoko before switching to Hearts of Oak.
He had a loan spell at Dreams before returning to Hearts of Oak to finish his deal.
He joined Enugu Rangers International in 2017 and has been part of their domestic and continental campaign.
The 25-year-old was a member of the 2015 Ghana U-20 squad for the Africa Youth Championship In Senegal and the FIFA World Cup hosted in New Zealand.
