Hearts of Oak defeated Liberty Professionals 2-0 in a friendly match on Wednesday at the Valley View University Park as they step up preparations ahead of the return of the Ghana Premier League this weeked.

Kwadwo Obeng Jnr and Linda Mtange scored the goals in both halves of the game to seal a comfortable victory for the Phobians.

Slavko Matic used the match as a perfect opportunity to allow every player to prove his worth and assess the overall performance of his entire squad.

The match offered the coach a greater insight to his team and a good guide for making decisions for subsequent assignments.

The players have been in camp for some time now all in preparation for the weekend game against Bibiani GoldStars at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 3pm.

The match will be coach Slavko Matic's first official assignment for the team and he will be hoping for a perfect start.

Hearts of Oak are yet to win a game this season, having lost one and drawn two of the three matches played this season.

The Phobians are 14th on the league table with two points after three matches.
