Hearts of Oak excludes contract rebel Salifu Ibrahim from squad ahead of Democracy Cup

Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak have begun training without influential midfielder Salifu Ibrahim ahead of their Democracy Cup game against Asante Kotoko.

The two most glamourous clubs with lock horns at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, July 5, 2024 for the inaugural Democracy Cup.

After missing out on silverware in the 2023/24 football season, both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko will want to win the upcoming contest to appease their supporters.

Ahead of the much-anticipated clash, the Phobians has commenced training as they seek to secure victory over their rivals.

But according to reports, coach Aboubakar Ouattara has decided to exclude contract rebel Salifu Ibrahim from his team.

The former Techiman Eleven Wonders star has been asked to stay from the club’s training sessions until further notice.

Salifu Ibrahim’s contract with the Phobians has already exhausted and efforts in extending his stay has proved futile, hence the decision to exclude him from the team.

The highly-rated midfielder has been outstanding since joining the Phobians from Eeleven Wonders. He was instrumental when the Ghanaian giants won the Ghana Premier League to break the eleven year trophy drought.

In the just concluded season, Salifu Ibrahim racked up 2 goals and provided 10 assists in 32 games in the Ghana Premier League.
