Hertha Berlin chief Michael Preetz admits extending the loan of Allan could depend on Europa League qualification.
Allan's deal from Liverpool runs to the end of this season.
Preetz has confirmed they're in talks about a new arrangement, though Liverpool want Allan to be playing European football next term.
"We have let Liverpool know our desire to loan Allan another year," he said.
"The English are in principle ready, but they would like to see us in the Europa League (next season)."
