Head coach of Wa All Stars, Enos Adepa has disclosed they had a hidden agenda to win the Ghana Premier League from the start of the season.

The Wa based club was crowned champions of the 2015/16 Champions of the Ghana Premier League. Midfielder Sadiq Alhassan converted an 88th minute penalty to win the game 2-1 for Wa All Stars as Aduana Stars goalkeeper Joseph Addo who saved a previous penalty taken by Richard Arthur in the 27th minute failed to pull another save this time as the Wa side marched on to clinch the 2016 Ghana premier league title for the first time in their history.

Wa All Stars accumulated 51 points to win the league with a match to end the season.

Speaking to Asempa Sports, Adepa said, “I am very happy with what we have been able to do but we thank God for how far he has brought us.

“People saw as play from the beginning of the season and many tipped us to win the league but in coaching we have hidden agenda and even though we wanted to win the league from the start of the season and going into the match yesterday, we promised the management and the technical team that we are going to win the match and the players believed in themselves.

“We had the ambition of winning the league going into the season but we chose to hid it and be the underdogs but I told the players to go all out and as the sports writers continue to tip as to win the league, we loved that but we chose to hid our agenda.

The performance of the referee has being a question Aduana Stars have raised.

Quizzed if the referee officiated the match fairly, he said, “On the contrary, we played better than Aduana Stars but with the decision making, it is in the hands of the referee and I will rate the performance of the referee 70 percent and with the question of penalty, I think there camera’s around.

“It was clear that Aduana Stars had an intention coming into the game and they weren’t happy with the decisions of the referee but you should remember that the referee is the better person to make any decision on the field of play because he knows what he is doing.

Many are expecting the Wa based club to stage in next season‘s Africa competition.

Asked if they are ready to compete in Africa, Adepa said, “The president has promised we will play in Africa and he told the players from the start of the season but we will go for a training tour before we start our Africa campaign.”
