'His Success Speaks for Itself' Germany Star Defends Carlo Ancelotti's Style of Management

Published on: 27 December 2016

Juventus and Germany midfielder Sami Khedira has stood up in defence of Carlo Ancelotti, and has rejected suggestions of the Italian being too relaxed with his squad.

Ancelotti took over from Pep Guardiola during the summer, and the transition certainly wasn't seamless, as RB Leipzig took the early upper hand in the league while the Bundesliga champions struggled with form.

However, despite the club having had two three-game winless streaks, they are now back on top of the league, having beaten Leipzig 3-0 before Christmas.

Khedira played under Ancelotti at Real Madrid, and the pair won the Champions League together, with the Italian being the one to finally land Los Blancos the long sought-after La Decima.

He claims that the coach grants the players freedom, but it's only because he seeks creativity from them.

Interesting reflection by @MrAncelotti. He gives his opinion about the use of social media in his teams https://t.co/pe0ibw0QJ6

"I know how Carlo is," Khedira said toBild. "He grants very, very, very many liberties because he wants his players to be more creative.

"He has a clear idea of how you should play and a concept of how you should live. But he also knows that he has 25 individuals to look after.

"I never worked under Pep Guardiola but everything is probably very regulated so now it's already an adjustment.

"But I got along very well under Carlo and his success speaks for itself."

It does indeed. The Italian has won the Champions League on three occasions, and is the only manager to have won that many. He also won league titles in Italy, England and France.

Things seem back to normal now, yet the threat of Leipzig is still very present. It will certainly be an interesting battle through to the end of the Bundesliga season. Can Ancelotti keep Bayern's run going?

Most wouldn't best against it.
