Hull's Josh Tymon at Centre of Transfer Battle as Liverpool Reportedly Enter Race for Youngster

Liverpool have entered the race to sign Hull City's teen prodigy Josh Tymon, according to ESPN.

The Reds have reportedly thrown their hat into the ring as a plethora of Premier League sides keep tabs on the 17-year-old after his impressive displays for the Tigers' senior and youth teams.

Sources from within the Liverpool camp are alleged to have told ESPN that scouts from the Anfield-based side were in attendance to see Tymon play the full 90 minutes of Hull's 2-1 EFL Cup fourth round victory over Bristol City last Tuesday, amid speculation that they are ready to make a move for the young defender.

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are also believed to be monitoring Tymon's situation on Humberside as the competition for his signature hots up ahead of the January transfer window.

Primarily a left-back, Tymon would fill an area of Jurgen Klopp's squad that is in dire need of strengthening.

The German has deployed Liverpool vice captain James Milner as an auxiliary left-back in recent weeks after natural full back Alberto Moreno appeared to fall out of favour under Klopp.

The Spaniard returned to the starting line up for last Saturday's victory away at Crystal Palace after illness prevented Milner from taking part, but it remains to be seen whether Moreno has a long-term future on Merseyside.

The Reds have also been linked with a free transfer move for Schalke's Sead Kolasinac, but neither the Bundesliga club or Liverpool have confirmed that talks have taken place.

Tymon has progressed through Hull's youth system and made his senior bow in January's 3-1 FA Cup fourth round triumph over Bury, and followed that display up with a 55-minute performance in the next round's 0-0 draw with Arsenal.

The full back also played 32 minutes of Hull's 3-1 EFL Cup win over Exeter City back in August and, despite making the bench four times this season, is yet to make his first appearance for the KCom stadium-based outfit in the Premier League.
