Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan says he is an idol to Andre Ayew and they both respect each other very well.
Both Andre Ayew and Asamoah Gyan featured in Ghana’s 5-0 thrashing of Ethiopia on Sunday. However, the win was overshadowed by a customized armband worn by Asamoah Gyan.
The Striker who scored his 50th goal in the national team colours was substituted in the game but did not pass on his armband to the deputy captain raising concerns of disunity in the team.
However, the legendary striker has quashed such reports claiming he has a good relationship with the Ayew’s.
“It is worrying to hear people say I have an issue with Andre Ayew. I was in the Black Stars before he came and I have been his idol since day one. His father even likes me so well,” he said after the game.
Asamoah Gyan will lead the Black Stars in their friendlies against Mexico and the United States later this month.
