I am the right person for Black Stars coaching job - CK Akonnor

CK Akonnor, the head coach of the Black Stars has reiterated that he is the right person for the national team coaching job.

The former Asante Kotoko gaffer dominated the headlines for the wrong reasons following Ghana's 3:0 defeat to Mali in their first friendly.

However, on Monday, the Black Stars recorded a 5:1 emphatic victory over Qatar at the Titanic Sports Complex in Antalya in Turkey.

“I was a bit worried because I did not expect that results,” the former Dreams FC boss told Adom TV.

“My first game against Mali did not go as expected but we came back strongly against Qatar.

“We will sit down and analyse the game and see where we fell short but I don’t think judging me with just a game will be fair.

“I have worked at the highest level and I am the right person for the Black Stars coaching job because I believe in myself and in my qualities as a coach.

“I will make sure this will not happen again moving forward,” he added.

Akonnor replaced Kwesi Appiah on a two-year deal in January this year.

The Black Stars will now turn their attention to their 2022 Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon] doubleheader qualifiers against Sudan.
