I begged Danlad Ibrahim to stay at Kotoko - Nana Yaw Amponsah

Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Nana Yaw Amponsah has revealed how he influenced goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim to stay at the club.

According to him, he had to plead with the 2022 World Cup star to reject a move to Al Hilal in Sudan.

“Danlad had decided he was leaving Kotoko to join Al Hilal in Sudan so we brought in Moise Pouaty. I pleaded with him to stay but it was when Hilal lost interest that he came to terms to stay”

“I gave a lot of factors why he (Danlad) must stay at Kotoko. I told him, you are Kotoko and CHAN number one goalkeeper, you will also go to the World Cup but if you leave Kotoko, there is no guarantee that you are going to get playing time and could lose your slots. Danlad thanked me after staying at the club”

“We don’t just cash in on players but then, if there is an offer and player decides to leave you cannot do anything about it” he told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.

Danlad Ibrahim is gradually losing his number spot to Frederick Asare who has been fantastic in the absence of the Black Meteors goalkeeper.
