Ashimeru, who was making an injury return suffered another setback just 16 minutes on the pitch, and had to be forced off as his side lost 4-3 on penalties after 0-0 stalemate in regulation time.

He subsequently missed the rest of the season due to the injury setback.

According to the former WAFA star, he felt bad after failing to help the side win the title at the expense of Gent.

"That was one of the hardest moments of my life. A black day," Ashimeru refers to that final at the Heysel at Het Laatste Nieuws.

"So after weeks of absence I wanted to play so badly. I felt bad that I was not able to help the team at such a decisive moment."

"I was found fit by the medical staff. The coach also supported that decision," Ashimeru refers to Vincent Kompany. "I wanted to do everything for my team - risk or not. It was not easy to have to start rehab again."
