I use my talents better on the left, Ayew tells manager Philip Cocu

Ghana and Fenerbahçe forward Andre Ayew has reportedly had a meeting with his manager Philip Cocu concerning a disagreement over his playing position.

According to the on-loan player, he can offer more to the team if he is deployed on the left-hand side of midfield, telling Turkish newspaper Yeni Yüzy?l Gazetesi, “I think I use my talents better on the left.”

Ayew, 28, began his career playing on the left-hand side of midfield for Marseille and even the national team but has slowly transitioned to a more central or right-sided role over the years – something he isn’t comfortable with.

He has started 3 out of 5 games for Fernabahce this season on the right side of midfield, as manager Philip Cocu prefers inverted wingers, with Ayew’s former Marseille teammate Mathieu Valbuena preferred on the left.

That system seems not to be reaping results, as the Turkish giants have lost 3 of their opening 4 league games and find themselves in 13th place on the league log.

Ayew has scored one goal this season for Fernabahce – his only goal this calendar year.
