Ghanaian coaching duo, Ibrahim Tanko and Otto Addo lead the race to take over the vacant head coach position of the Black Stars.

Earlier on Monday, Charles Kwablan Akonnor parted ways with the team, together with his staff after a shaky start to the 2022 FIFA World cup qualifiers. With the position now vacant, a three-man committee has been set up by the GFA to appoint a new coach.

Otto Addo is currently an assistant coach at German side Borussia Dortmund and has a lot of admirers. Tanko also heads the local Black Stars side after coaching the Black Meteors to fourth place in the U-23 AFCON in 2020.

"The Executive Council has formed a three (3) Member Committee made up of Vice President Mark Addo, Upper East Regional Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Salifu Zida and Dr. Randy Abbey to find a Head Coach and Assistant Coaches for the Black Stars within the next 72 hours," the FA's official website stated.

Kwesi Appiah's name has been mentioned for a sensational return as well as Herve Renard.
