I’m committed to the Black Stars – Inaki Williams insists after announcing inability to honour call-up

Athletic Bilbao forward, Inaki Williams has announced that he will not be able to play for Ghana in the game against Madagascar this month.

The striker is one of 24 players invited by Ghana head coach Chris Hughton for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualification match.

In a statement, Inaki Williams says although he will not be able to play in the game, he is committed to the Black Stars.

“Since a few weeks I've been playing with pain in my right knee. I decided to play until the end of the season, but after having spoken to the medical services, we've decided to stop and solve the problem to be 100% for the preseason.

“This wasn't an easy decision to make because I won't be able to be with my national team, Ghana the next meeting,” Inaki Williams announced.

The Black Stars striker added, “I want to say that I am fully committed and I will come back with the Black Stars if the coach deems it appropriate next calls.

“Thank you for your support.”

Ghana will play away to Madagascar on June 18.

A win for the Black Stars in the last but one match of the qualifiers could secure qualification for Ghana to play at the tournament scheduled to be staged in Ivory Coast.
