GFA charges six RTU officials for allegedly orchestrating player impersonation against Dreams FC

The Ghana Football Association has announced that it has charged six Real Tamale United officials for allegedly orchestrating the player scandal against Dreams FC on Wednesday.

The Tamale-based club allegedly fielded unregistered players against the Still Believe lads in an 8-1 defeat in a Ghana Premier League outstanding game.

Registered players of the club went on air to deny ever travelling with the team to Dawu for the match, but the club used their names for different players.

The GFA has now released the names of those who allegedly orchestrated the act.

The following officials of Real Tamale United have been charged with a breach of Section 34(6)(d) of the GFA

Ghana Premier League Regulations, 2019, following Real Tamale United's Ghana Premier League game against Dreams FC.

  1. Zakaria Safianu - CEO
  2. Abdul-Samed Iddrisu- Physiotherapist
  3. Tanko Jentumah- Team Staff
  4. Abdul-Gafaru Salifu- Team Staff
  5. Sylvester Yaw Apanka- Welfare Officer
  6. Iddi Manzah Alhassan- Assistant Coach

It is alleged that the aforementioned officials facilitated Real Tamale United in deceiving match officials during the said game by using unregistered players to impersonate officially registered players of their club, which constitutes misconduct that brings the game into disrepute.

They have until Friday, 14 June 2024, to respond to the charges.
