Injured Andre Ayew impressed with performance of Black Stars against Rwanda

Deputy Captain of the Black Stars Andre Ayew says he was impressed with the display of his colleagues in their 1-1 draw with Rwanda in the final Afcon qualifier.

Ayew who missed the game due to injury was at the Accra Sports stadium to cheer his mates on to victory but the team rather settled for a point after winger Samuel Tetteh’s stunning goal in the first half was cancelled out by a superb free-kick from Muhadjiri Hakizimana in the 82nd minute.

Despite the result, Andre Ayew believes the players did very well. “We had a good game under difficult circumstances.” “The coach gave opportunity to some guys who have not had enough regular playing time in the team and I think they did well.”

Ayew is expected to return to the team ahead of Ghana’s 2018 world cup qualifier against Egypt after his club side West Ham confirmed his early return.
