Injured John Antwi sits out as Pyramid FC beat Al Ahly in Egypt Cup

Published on: 19 August 2019

Ghanaian international, John Antwi had to sit out over the weekend as his new club Pyramid FC beat Al Ahly 1-0 in the Egypt Cup due to injury.

The forward joined the side this summer and is expected to be key for the side throughout the 2019/2020 season.

Now 27 years of age, John Antwi impressed for the side when they defeated Etoile Du Congo in the preliminary stages of the CAF Confederations Cup. Pyramids emerged as 4-1 winners with the prolific attacker bagging a brace on the day.

He, however, picked up a knock and missed their crunch encounter with Al Ahly over the weekend.

In his absence, his teammates put up a solid performance to ensure they beat the Egyptian giants. A 55th-minute goal from Eric Traory was enough to steer Pyramids to victory.

Pyramid FC is now through to the quarter-finals of the competition and will be hoping to go as far as the finals to have a chance of lifting the coveted trophy at the end of the campaign.

Antwi is likely to fully return from injury by close of the week and will feature in the side’s next game when they face Etoile Du Congo for the second leg of the qualifying round of the CAF Champions League.
