Legendary striker Dejan Stankovic has left Inter Milan after less than one year as manager of Nerazzurri, as he expects new challenges.


The former Serbian international acted as the managerand someonewho offered a link between those high up in the hierarchy at Inter and former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini, who offered his squad's leadership.


Stankovic had previously played for Inter Milan for ten years making 326 appearances for the Serie A side that included winningthe Champions League in 2010.


The former midfielder exclaims it wasn't an easy decision to make but, he expects new challenges ahead, as he spoke withGazzettaWorld.

I am happy to have contributed what I could in management. Inter is my home and this was definitely an important adventure. Our roads now will part. I expect new challenges ahead but, as I have always said, the Nerazzurri will remain forever in my heart.�


The 37-year-old was only appointed manager last season and saw them finish fourth in the Serie A.
