Inter Milan & Everton Set to Battle it Out for Manchester United Outcast

Morgan Schneiderlin has cut an isolated figure at Manchester United, as the likes of Michael Carrick have taken centre stage at the expense of the injury-prone star.

The Frenchman has been offered an escape route by several clubs over the past year, including Tottenham and Everton. The Merseyside club have retained their interest heading towards the January transfer window, and have been informed that £20m will be required to prise him away.

However, a new potential buyer has arrived in search of Schneiderlin's services according toGazzetto dello Sport: Inter Milan. A club with immense history and appeal, Milan are looking for a new defensive midfielder to help new manager Stefano Pioli set up a new 3-5-2 formation after the January window.

Another man who could be brought in to fill the role is Chelsea outcast John Obi Mikel, who had been staring exit signs in the face ever since N'Golo Kante strolled through the gates of Stamford Bridge this summer. Mikel could be brought in on loan.

Everton fans need not be too disheartened by the entrance of Inter into the hunt for Schneiderlin, as the former giants have lost their way in recent years. They were thumped 3-1 by Southampton in the Europa League, and are some distance from the top of Serie A approaching halfway through the season.
