Gabriel "Gabigol" Barbosa scored his first goal for Italian giants Inter Milan over the weekend, claiming to fans and press this is "just the beginning", as sourced byESPN.

Better known as "Gabigol", the highly-rated South-American wonderkid signed from Santos in summer 2016 for a fee of€30m. He helped Inter overcome Bologna on Sunday, scoring the game's first and only goal.

Ronaldo scored his first goal for the club in similar fashion nearly 20 years ago, the same year Gabriel Barbosa was born.Speaking with reporters post-match in Bologna, Gabigol claimed: "This is the start of a new story for me now.

"This is just the beginning. I am never going to forget this afternoon in Bologna.I came here to make history and I never let my head drop. I waited, worked hard, professionally, because I knew that my chance would come to make people know who I am."

He seems to be settling in well at the club, saying he's "getting better and better" since moving from eight-time Brazilian champions Santos.

He added;"I feel stronger, faster and more Italian. Everybody is helping me, giving me advice, and it's fantastic to be able to play with people I used to only see on video games.I'm delighted. I dedicate this day to my family and to the fans", according to South American outletLa Gazzetta dello Sportreported.

He seems to be settling into life in Italy, but is aware that the European challengesahead will be difficult and there could be a long way to go before total adaption to Serie A.

Inter Milan face Roma this coming Sunday in what is expected to be a sell-out at the San Siro. Both Inter and Gabigol alike will be hoping for a win that will push them a step closer to 3rd place in the league.
