Inter see Puel as an alternative to Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and have been pursuing the former Nice coach for over 18 months.
The Nerazzurri were ready to appoint Puel before choosing Roberto Mancini last season and now are reviving their interest.
The priority for Inter is to appoint a coach with Serie A experience, but Puel has been assured he's on their shortlist.
