Inter's Joao Mario Says the Language Barrier Stopped Frank de Boer From Succeeding at the Club

Frank de Boer quite frankly had a terrible time as manager of Internazionale and was sacked after just 85 days, and summer signing Joao Mario believes it was the language barrier that eventually cost the Dutchman his job.

Speaking to Tuttosport viaFourFourTwo,the Portugal International said:"Now we have an Italian coach I have noticed one of the difficulties in the previous regime was the language barrier."

The winger added :"In fact that might have been the main problem. De Boer had good ideas, but he failed to transmit them to the team as Pioli does."

Mario also said:"It is hard to say what went wrong under De Boer. In football, things go wrong and it's the coach that pays the price."

The former Ajax man had taken Ajax to four Eredivisietitles and entered Milan as one of Europe's most sought after managers with the attractive style of football he was getting his teams to play.

It was just two weeks before the start of the Serie A when Mancini was sacked and De Boer was appointed and maybe didn't have enough time to transfer his ideas.

Since then Inter Milan have climbed up to 9th and just this weekend beat Genoa 2-0, incidentally the reverse fixture was de Boer's first and Inter lost 2-0.

The job was given to Stefano Pioli, signing an 18-month contract as he looks to get this excellent Inter side to reach their potential and take the club to where they should be at near the very top of Serie A.
