It feels good to be back in the Ghana Premier League - Asamoah Gyan

Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer Asamoah Gyan says it feels good to be back in the Ghana Premier League after 17 years.

The 34-year-old completed a transfer deadline day move to Legon Cities Royals on one-year deal.

Gyan scored 10 goals in 16 games before he left Liberty in 2003 to embark on a career that incorporated spells in Italy, France, England, Turkey, China, and the United Arab Emirates."

"It's feels good. People from Ghana having been waiting me out for all these years and finally I'm back home where i started," Gyan said in his first interview with Legon Cities.

"Sometimes it brings memories from 2003. I just ask myself so how am I gonna do. Am I gonna play like 2003 or not and secondly my name is a household name now."

He added, "In 2003, it wasn't a household name. For now, people will be coming to stadium to, I'm sure purposely to come see me on the field."

"I'm so happy to play in the Ghanaian league and to play in front of the Ghanaian fans."

The 2020/21 season will kick off the weekend of November 13-16 at match venues across the country and is expected to run through till the weekend of July 16-18, 2021.
