Former Karela United coach Johnson Smith is encouraging former Black Stars players Asamoah Gyan and Sulley Muntari to play in the Ghana Premier League once again.

The two players started their careers at Liberty Professionals before making moves to Europe. Sulley Muntari featured for the likes of AC Milan and Inter Milan whilst Asamoah Gyan made his name in Udinese and Sunderland.

Hearts of Oak board member, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe has already made it known that he is interested in bringing Sulley Muntari to the side and Asamoah Gyan has expressed his dream to finish his career at Kotoko.

In an interview with West FM, Johnson Smith argued that gate proceeds may increase due to their presence.

"I agree with Maxwell Konadu that if Asamoah Gyan and Sulley Muntari join our local clubs, it will benefit a lot. Clubs can even get more money from gate proceeds because of their international experience in the game. Supporters will come in their numbers to watch them."

He added: "When they join the local clubs, they can even turn into player-coach(es) as well as giving advice on the field of play to the players."
