Ghanaian international Jackson Owusu has expressed his appreciation to Gor Mahia for finally settling all the bills at the hotel where he is staying in Kenya.

The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko joined the club at the beginning of the year to link up with former manager Steve Polack.

Shortly after, the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic rocked the country, forcing the football season to be put on suspension.

Due to the financial hardships presented by the deadly disease, Gor Mahia defaulted payment of hotel bills at the Jimlizer Hotel in Buruburuin in Nairobi where the center-back is staying.

This week, all the accumulated debt of Sh 600,000 has been settled by the club.

Speaking in an interview with Nairobi News, Jackson Owusu has confirmed that payment of the debt as he extends his gratitude to the club.

“I am now fine and enjoying my stay in Kenya. I want to thank the club (Gor Mahia) leadership, more so the chairman, for sorting out issues that made me uncomfortable before”, the defender said.

He added, “I also owe the great fans of Gor Mahia who were touched by my situation at the time and chipped in to assist me. Things are working out well and I thank God. Even my family back at home are now at peace”.
