West Brom winger James McClean has gone against wearing the poppy to commemorate Remembrance Dayon his jersey yet again, per theDaily Record.

McCLean sparked outrage for the very same thing last year, and doesn't seem to be bothered one bit.Having previously refused to don the poppy on his Sunderland or Wigan kits, the Derry-born player has kept his stance.

He explained why earlier in the season in West Brom's match programme, and in the past, he has written open letters to fans discussing the issue.

"We are coming up to Remembrance Dayand I won't wear a poppy on my shirt, he wrote in the programme.

"People say I am being disrespectful but don't ask why I choose not to wear it.

"If the poppy was simply about World War One and Two victims alone, I'd wear it without a problem.

"I would wear it every day of the year if that was the thing but it doesn't, it stands for all the conflicts that Britain has been involved in. Because of the history where I come from in Derry, I cannot wear something that represents that."

The controversial figure has received death threats because of his decision. He has also made the news for turning his back on the England flag, and on on occasion bowed his head during the singing of 'God save the Queen' before a pre-season game in the United States.

West Brom, meanwhile, lost 4-0 at home to Manchester City on Saturday. Sergio Aguero and Ilkay Gundogan both scored braces on the day to put City on top of the Premier League table.
