Jan Gyamerah elated with minutes in Hamburg SV’s friendly game against FC Fredericia

Defender Jan Gyamerah says it was important for him to feature in Hamburg SV’s friendly encounter against FC Fredericia.

The German-born full-back who is of Ghanaian descent struggled with an injury prior to the start of the 2020/2021 football season in Germany.

Having returned to full fitness, he first played for the Hamburg SV u-21 team before he was introduced in the game against Paderborn in the Bundesliga 2.

During the international break, Jan Gyamerah also played a role in the team’s friendly match against Danish side FC Fredericia with his team winning 4-3.

Speaking in an interview after the game, the defender says the friendly was very important and he is happy he had minutes to help him stay fit.

“First of all, it is important that everyone stayed healthy with a test like this. We would have preferred to have done a little better, but in the end, we are happy that we won”, Gyamerah said.

He continued, “Match practice is very important to me. It was the third game over 90 minutes and every game is important to me after the long break”.

Jan Gyamerah is in line for a starting role tomorrow when Hamburg SV faces off with Furth in the Bundesliga 2.
