Dutch defender of Ghanaian descent, Jeremie Frimpong is looking forward to playing in the Europa League in the 2020/2021 football season with his Celtic outfit.

The club was hoping to play in the Uefa Champions League but unfortunately got knocked out of the qualification series after losing to Ferencvaros.

Now set to take on Latvian outfit Riga, Celtic is determined to enjoy victory in order to merit a place in the Group stage of the European inter-club competition.

Speaking to The Herald Scotland, Jeremie Frimpong has noted that the Hoops have their eyes set on the competition.

“We are all looking forward to the Europa League. It’s a big thing for the club. We all want to play European football and show our ability on that stage to the rest of the world”, Frimpong said

“It will be tough in Latvia but every game in the qualifiers is like that. Teams all want to beat us. They want to show their own quality and they will treat it like a final. We just have to be at our best and look to get the job done over there”, he added.

Last season Jeremie Frimpong played his first Europa League game for Celtic against Copenhagen.

Unfortunately, the team lost at the end of the 2 legs and had to return home. This year, the full-back hopes to play more games for the Scottish giants in the competition.
