Forward Joel Fameye featured for his Orenburg side on Wednesday when they lost 4-0 to CSKA Moscow after recovering from the Coronavirus disease.

A couple of weeks ago, the Ghanaian international was diagnosed with the deadly virus and had to be put under quarantine for observation and treatment.

After coming back negative in subsequent tests, the striker was finally given the clear to return to action this week.

Joel Fameye was hence handed playing time on Wednesday when Orenburg played as a host to CSKA Moscow.

At the end of the Matchday 27 fixture in the Russian Premier League, his contributions did not matter with the away team winning massively by four goals to nothing.

Confirming the former Ghana u-23 attacker’s recovery from the Covid-19, Orenburg sports director Dmitry Andreev in an interview with sports24.ru shared: “Fameye has recovered. Now she’s already working with everyone. The rest are still taking tests.

“Kuat’s two weeks of self-isolation will end later than Fameye’s. No one will have time for CSKA. By the next match, we hope that there will be more survivors”.

This season, the Ghanaian has made 20 appearances in the Russian Premier League and has chipped in with 5 goals for Orenburg.

His team is suffering after the restart of football in the European country with some of their top players still missing action after contracting the Coronavirus disease.
