John Boye among top players in Ligue 1 whose contract will expire this summer

Published on: 24 March 2020

Ghanaian international John Boye is one of many top players in the French Ligue 1 whose contract will end at the end of the 2019/2020 season.

The Black Stars defender joined FC Mets back in 2018 from Turkish Super Lig side Sivasspor on a free transfer.

His contract is expected to expire in June when the 2019/2020 season should have ended under normal circumstances.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, football in France and almost every part of the world has been suspended. What that means is that the Ligue 1 season could travel beyond June and into July or even further.

If that is to happen, it will mean that John Boye’s contract will have expired, requiring FC Metz to renegotiate an extension at a difficult period when their financial situation might not be at the best level.
