John Boye to miss Ghana’s AFCON qualifier against South Africa through injury

FC Metz center-back John Boye is expected to miss Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against South Africa next month as he continues efforts to recover from a hamstring injury.

As countries begin their quest to secure qualification to the next AFCON which will be played in Cameroon in 2021, the Black Stars are set to play their first game against their Bafana Bafana counterpart.

Whiles Coach James Kwesi Appiah will be hoping to have his best players for the game, he is set to miss the services of John Boye who has been one of his trusted defenders since taking charge of the national team.

The center-back picked up an injury in September and is yet to recover fully even though he started minor training last Monday.

With the crucial AFCON qualifiers slated for November 14, it is understood that John Boye will not be fully fit by that time and hence will not be available for selection.

Checks have revealed that his place could be taken by Mohammed Salisu who has been outstanding for his Real Valladolid side since the start of the Spanish La Liga season.
