The Berekum Divisional Police Command has detained Joseph Adjei Oteng for allegedly assaulting an assistant referee during a game in the Regional Division Two League between Domfete Galaxy FC and Fetentaa Gye Nyame FC on May 24, 2023.
Joseph Adjei Oteng is presently being held and will soon be taken to court.
Due to the allegations of wrongdoing against the suspect, the Brong Ahafo Regional Football Association has also initiated disciplinary actions that might result in sporting implications.
The suspect is suspected of assaulting Assistant Referee II Patrick Adjei Sarpong during a Wednesday match between Domfete Galaxy FC and Fetentaa Gye Nyame FC in the Regional Division Two League.
The match report stated that after the game Oteng struck the assistant referee with his football boots.
The Ghana Football Association and the Brong Ahafo Football Association are likely to sanction the player when they complete their investigations.
Fetentaa Gye Nyame FC defeated Domfete Galaxy FC 1-0.
