A Sports Journalist was heckled and thrown out of the Len Clay Stadium by Asante Kotoko fans in Obuasi on Wednesday for claiming the penalty awarded against Karela United was a dubious call.

The Porcupine Warriors hosted Karela at the Len Clay Stadium in the matchday 30 games.

The cagey encounter game was tie 1-1 after 71 minutes. Emmanuel Gyamfi scored the opening goal for Kotoko but striker Richard Berko levelled things for Karela around the hour mark.

However, a penalty was awarded by Referee Jacob Aduntera after Evans Adomako appeared to have been fouled by Karela United goalkeeper Richard Baidoo brought down Evans Adomako in his box.

The penalty generated heated controversy as replays show the goalkeeper got a touch of the ball before making contact with the player.

But Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama elected himself and beautifully converted from the spot to restore the lead for Mariano Barreto’s side.

The journalist found himself at the wrong side of the Kotoko fans after he pronounced that referee Aduntera made a wrong call from the incident as replays show the goalkeeper got a touch of the ball before making contact with the Kotoko attacker.

Pictures which have surfaced online show two fans carrying the journalist out of the stadium after he reportedly commented that the situation wasn’t a penalty.

Asante Kotoko sit on top of the league log with 56 points.

The Porcupine Warriors will travel to Accra to play Hearts of Oak in the matchday 31 games at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
