The comment was made in regards to a question, where Klopp was asked whether not competing in a European competition would benefit them domestically, however the former Borussia Dortmund manager disagreed, insisting top teams need European football, but when they don't have it they need to take advantage of it.

Speaking at a press conference, via the Mirror, Klopp said: "Icannot compare.

"For the last six, seven years I was always travelling through Europe.

"I never thought ˜this is too much'. If you want to be successful, you need European football.Watford didn't travel last week. They have the same situation.

"We have to show we use the time for training over the whole season, not the first 10 games.Did you ask the same of Antonio Conte? They have the same situation."

Klopp then made a reference that is likely to anger United supporters, suggesting that Mourinho's men too may be given the benefit of not having any European fixtures after Christmas, insinuating that they are unlikely to get out of their current group.

"Maybe Manchester United have the same from January onwards?" remarked Klopp.

The Red Devils continued their poor form in all competitions with another defeat on Thursday evening away to Europa League group stage opponents Fenerbahce, losing 2-1, and are now in third position in the table, one point behind leaders Fenerbahce and Feyenoord.
