Juventus Monitoring Barcelona Legend's Contract Status Ahead of Possible Move in Summer 2018

Juventus has become something of a Mecca for elder statesmen of the game looking torecapture the form of their younger selves.


Dani Alves, Andrea Pirlo and Patrice Evra have all defied expectations with their performances and longevity, with post-30 moves to Turin. And ifAS, viaCalcio Mercato,is to be believed, Andres Iniesta could be the next man to follow the well-troddenpath to the Italian champions.

According to theSpanish paper,Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu may decide against extending the World Cup final match-winning goalscorer's contractbeyond 2018, allowing suitors includingJuventus the possibility of capturing the world-class playmaker on the cheap, or even free, in the near future.


However, it would seem the man himself is not angling for anywhere but the Nou Camp and, earlier thisseason, publicly affirmed his desire to stay withBarcelona and extend his current deal.

"In 2018 my contract ends and my desire is to continue, the whole world knows this, it is no secret. But my level of performance will determine if I can stay at Barca. I hope it will be for a long time," he toldMundo Deportivo.


Iniesta has three assists in eight La Liga outings so far this season. As one of the most famous sonsof Barcelona's la Masia academy, the midfielderhas, thus far,won eight league titles andfour Champions Leagues for the Catalans, as well as being an integral part of the World Cup and double Euro-winning Spanish national side.
