The Gunners did offer Sanchez a contract worth£180,000-a-week, but it is seen that he is looking for figures in excess of£200,000. Arsenal now face a dilemma whether to sell the striker in the summer and recoup their money or let his contract run down and move him on for free.
If Sanchez does leave, it will be a major loss for the North London side who have come to rely on the Chilean's goals this season. Sanchez scored twice to lead to his side to victory over Hull, taking his tally to 17 for the season, the highest by any player in the Premier League at the current stage.
