Karela United have revealed the reason why they turned down Nzema Kotoko's request to use their stadium for the upcoming National Division One League.
In a letter responding to the request, the Ghana Premier League side said the club was unable to grant the request because Nzema Kotoko had in February 2020 denied them the opportunity to sign their player on account of the two clubs being rivals.
The letter signed by Karela United CEO, Elloeny Amande said the club was unable to share its asset with a club that considers it rivals.
"I regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you the use of the facility in this moment," the letter reads.
"You will recall that in or about February 2020, had the opportunity to speak to you personally to request for the services of your striker Agyenim Boateng, at a time that Karela United was in dire straits and needed a goalscorer in order to stave off the threat of relegation. In the said interaction you blatantly turned down the request on the basis that Nzema Kotoko and Karela United were RIVALS and that there was no way you were going to trade your player to us.
"You have subsequently in keeping with that position, transferred the player to DREAMS FC, a rival club of Karela in the Premier League.
"Based on the foregoing, we are at a loss as to how we can co-share our club asset with a party that considers us rivals and have demonstrated such mala fide."
